Animesh A. Sabnis, MD, MSHS

Animesh A. Sabnis, MD, MSHS, MFA, FAAP, is the inaugural Director of Health Equity Analytics and Strategy for UCLA Health System. In this role, Dr. Sabnis works with partners across and beyond the health system to implement system-wide solutions for health inequities experienced by UCLA Health patient populations. He serves as chair of the system-wide Equitable Care Committee, which develops institutional clinical equity strategy and sets priorities for equitable clinical care. 

Dr. Sabnis is Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, where he has received recognition for excellence in practicing and teaching neonatal-perinatal medicine in UCLA’s neonatal intensive care units. 

Over the course of his career, Dr. Sabnis has pursued the vision that justice is a prerequisite for excellence, and that we can deliver optimal care to every patient through process improvements and culture change. He has held numerous leadership positions at UCLA Health focused on quality and equity, and in which he has gained experience with health informatics technologies and community-partnered initiatives. 

Dr. Sabnis studied biomedical ethics at Brown University, creative writing at Columbia University, medicine at the University of Pittsburgh, pediatrics and neonatology at Northwestern University, and health policy and management at UCLA. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society. He is certified as an improvement coach by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement.
